I finally got around to digging into the PHP theming on my website, and now the Minetest pages have two blocks with auto generated content. Currently I'm having problems with the more mods by this author block. For a brief moment in time it was working, and when looking at a mod you would see a list of other mods that that author had created and I had reviewed, unfortunately that is now not working, and I didn't change anything. This is a long standing problem I have had both on this site and on my ministry site. Everything is set correctly in the view options and...

So if you've visited my site before you probably remember that I didn't have any sort of logo or header image and just had this big goofy looking blank spot.well that blank spot is no more thanks to a bit of work on my part. Last night I had the great idea of portraying my office in a lowpoly drawing styled image. The graphic was created mostly in blender and then pulled into gimp for some coloring and layering of other images. I do plan on making some tweaks to it yet, such as making it wider to fill the space better, and I want to get a better picture of myself,...

For some time I've been a fan of gel pens, there is just something about them, they write so smooth and have such good ink flow. Bic pens are alright, but face it, a good gel pen beats a stick pen any day. I've gone through a few gel pens in my time, usually the tips get messed up from being dropped long before I use all the ink up.
When my last blue gel pen had it's tip messed up, thanks a lot Ada, I decided that it was time to start a search for a pink gel pen. I never would have expected it to be as hard to find as I found it to...

I've been filming for a documentary and have been using quite a bit of green screen shots, and while doing that I've picked up some tips that I think could be helpful for a beginner

1. Background is everything. Do your best to get an even green color, it will make your comps a million times easier. I've read and been told that green felt works best, go for the brightest you can find. Felt doesn't wrinkle like lighter weight fabrics, and has more diffuse properties so the shadows are much less defined.

2. Lighting goes hand in hand with the...

Okay, so that might not be the best title in the world, but in this blog post I'm going to be going over how to fix lighting issues with meshes exported from Blender and then used in the massively popular voxel game, Minetest. The biggest issue I think people have is all because of Normals. Blender is usually pretty good with keeping normals pointed in the right direction but every once in a while you'll get some normals that are a little confused and point backwards. You might not notice it in Blender, but once the mesh is in the game the lighting on it will always...

Hey everybody, you and I both know you have some great ideas about how to improve Minetest. Well maybe improving Minetest is a little far fetched, not that it doesn't have room for improvement, but you probably have more ideas about mods that can be made*. Well do I have good news for you, I've recently started a playlist on Youtube of Minetest Modding videos. I'm starting out with the basics, as I'm no modding master, but we'll learn together. The videos will be released weekly on Fridays, and they will be without ads for one month, after which point I'll be...

Once again I am back with another stupid Christmas carol this time the Grinch song. Now I should mention I've never seen/read the Grinch movie/film/video/book I don't even know what the title of it is, or what it is, though I'm guessing Dr. Seuss wrote it. This song doesn't really have too many problems with it, but what does it have to deal with Christmas? You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch.
You really are a heel.
You're as cuddly as a cactus,
You're as charming as an eel,
Mr. Grinch.
You're a bad banana with a greasy black peel.
You're a...

Wow! Mommy's kissing Santa Claus!
I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus
Underneath the mistletoe last night
She didn't see me creep
Down the stairs to have a peep
She thought that I was tucked up
In my bedroom, fast asleep

Then I saw Mommy tickle Santa Claus
Underneath his beard so snowy white
Oh, what a laugh it would have been
If Daddy had only seen
Mommy kissing Santa Claus last night

He saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus
I did! I really did see Mommy kissing Santa Claus
And I'm gonna tell my Dad
...

I had to add some film grain to a composite a while back, and searched around on the web for a simple, yet good looking way to do this. I found a short explanation of a method, but no pictures or anything, so I decided I'd play around with it, and once I figured it out, I recorded a quick video tutorial so if somebody else was looking for the same thing they could hopefully find out how to do it.

This post comes to you on the beckoning of reader Anneli Oberman.      My last post about stupid Christmas carols was well received so I was encouraged and decided to do another, this time I'll be looking at the song Santa Claus is coming to town.   You better watch out,
You better not cry,
You better not pout,
I'm telling you why:
Santa Claus is coming to town!   He's making a list,
And checking it twice,
Gonna find out who's naughty or nice.
Santa Claus is coming to town!
He sees you...
